Astonishingly rare & beautiful Kremer original opening page from Stumbo Tinytown #4 with original color overlay on vellum - one of the loveliest Kremer pieces we\'ve ever seen!

Magical is the word that comes to mind as the brilliant Kremer evokes deep winter arriving in Tinytown in this Harvey classic from April 1964; the printed issue would have been on newsstands & drugstore racks during the 1963 holiday season!

At the absolute peak of his genius, Kremer not only produced a beautiful one-page story in black & white, but lavished exceptional care on a color overlay on vellum which he provided to indicate colors for the final printed piece.

You occasionally see color roughs for later Kremer art from the 70s, but this is the only color overlay of his that we\'ve ever seen, and may be one of a handful which survive, or possibly unique!

Art is in nice shape with all logos & paste-ups; minor White-out corrections; last panel a stat repro of the cover image; color overlay has some browning & edge tears & a small piece missing at the upper left corner.

Pen & ink on Bristol board with color pencil/marker/crayon/acrylic on vellum overlay.

Black & white art is 14.25\" x 20\" in dimension, with overlay the same size.

Harvey production information & November 5 1963 date stamped on back of Bristol board.

Jerry Weist\'s Price Guide values rare & exceptional Kremer Stumbo pages at a $300.00 minimum, and we feel this piece is conservatively worth as much as 5 times this due to its unique - or nearly so - status.

Our consignor gets offers on this piece frequently, and while they were originally planning to frame the piece side by side with the color overlay atop a black & white copy of the art, they\'ve decided it\'s time to pass it on to a fellow appreciator of the artist some consider as great as Kirby, and definitely as prolific!
