THE RACE

A girl named Michelle ran in a running race. A man at the starting line said, "On your mark, get set, go." She ran past six out of seven runners. A friend of hers named Isabella was catching up to her. Michelle was suspicious about how fast she could run.

They turned the corner. Isabella annoyed Michelle. Michelle caught up to Isabella. "You're going to be moping at the end of the race," Michelle said.

Michelle and Isabella were almost to the finish line. Michelle got ahead of Isabella. They both took a step and fell in a hole.

They fell and fell and fell. Then finally they landed with a thud! "Quit sulking, Michelle," Isabella said. "This hole is as suspicious as can be," Michelle said.

Isabella found a cave and went through it. Michelle stayed. Isabella saw a snak. It squirmed all over. She screamed. Michelle heard it. She came over and picked up the snake and put it in a little box she had. [author's note - yes, because everyone carries a box with them when they run a race].

They both found the exit. They came out. And to their amazement, a boy had already won. They left and went moping home.

At Michelle's house, the snake squirmed all around. "At least we found a snake, but we didn't win," Isabella said.
